The psychoanalytic explanation (which is one of about half a million, as
Christian already said) is that Hiter's father, young Mr. Alois
Schicklgruber was born out of wedlock, and although he was (40 years)
later claimed as legitimate by the penniless miller's help his mother
married, there was always gossip that Alois' real father had been the
Jew Frankenberger, for whom Miss Schickelgruber was working when she
became pregnant and who regulary sent her money for 14 years after the
child was born. (Souce: J.Fest, paraphrased by me.) Adolf grew up with
the gossip about his grandfather, and developed a pathological
resentment that he spend most of his adult life acting out.
