"b" in Ancient and modern Greek corresponds to the English "v", so the exact
term is "varvaros".

Coined because foreign talk in the ancient times sounded incomprehensible,
akin to continuous "var, var, var" sounds. [*]

It essentially was synonymous to "foreigner".
