They *could* be glued I suppose but it's unlikely. They are a tight push
fit. I use the two separated halves of a springy clothes peg to lever under
opposite sides and work around levering the knob up slowly. The reason for
using the peg is that the wood doesn't mark the plastic like screwdrivers
would.
