What Mac are you using? Without knowing what Mac you've got it's pretty much impossible to tell you how to get sound into it. Over the past years, Macs have lost and regained analog ins, added USB and firewire ports in different flavours, added PCI slots and most recently ditched them in favour of PCI-X ones...
