  If the amp has been lying idle for a number of years, it would be
  prudent to re-form the electrolytics before applying the full mains
  voltage. Otherwise there's a good chance they'll go bang.

  If you ever have reason to change any of the connectors on the mains
  lead, be aware that German kit of that vintage used the red wire for
  earth.
