Yes, indeed - as I suspect many round here would. Not that his remarks were
very original - we first had this debate when Thatcher decided to increase
the numbers staying on to HE. Of course she had high unemployment to help
her stupidity. Wasn't the approach:
a) Re-christen the Polytechnics as Universities
b) Point out to the pre-existing Universites that the 'new universities'
were delivering degrees for far less per student than here-to-fore
c) Use that as a basis for cutting funding to the 'old universities'
but I can't imagine Blair would do anything so devious . . .
As for songs . . . for some reason it keeps making me think of Roy Bailey
performing "I did it THEIR way" . . .
