It was 'Teach Thissen Tyke' (book and record) fronted by Austin Mitchell
and another YTV presenter of the time[1] (c.1970). Fred (or was it
brother Bert?) Gaunt appeared on the lp. the project was a repost[2] to
'Let Stalk Strine', a comical handbook of Aussie lingo.
All I can remember from it are the joke about the man who took his cat
to be neutered ("Is it a tom?" "No, it's in me saddle bag.") and the
fact that Osset was so called because it was so far from Leeds that you
had to 'oss it there and back. Oops. End-of-thread alert.
[1] Not Richard Whiteley - he was far too serious in those days.
[2] = money-spinning bandwagon attempt
