I think it cost about 50p to produce each one (for a lot of 500) and they sold for about 1.50. We sold them through distributors such as Rough Trade and Virgin who bought boxes of 50 for 50 quid a time (ie a quid a record). I remember getting a cheque from Virgin which was drawn on a Coutts bank account, which exemplifies Richard Branson's grandiosity. Of course we gave a lot of them away to family, friends and anyone else who wanted one.
