Re: Evidences of God - Animals - Ichneumon fly

I can understand you point, but there is another theological concept that can come into play here. Not all of God's creation was created equal.

The god in question is omnibenevolent.

First of all, if your position is that there is no gods, then how can you say "The god in question is omnibonevolent"? How do you know the god that is in question?

Designing a world in which one
creature has to eat another, painfully, in order to survive, isn't the
least bit benevolent.

How do you get to define benevolent? And benevolent to what, to the animals?

The Bible clearly shows that man has value above the rest of creation.

Again, you can't use the bible as evidence of your god.

As I stated at the begining, the subject is a mater of theology. Therefore, it goes into a question of beliefs. The "God in question" as you put it, would be the God of the Bible, since that was where I was trying to go with the main thread.

Therefore, using descriptions found in the Bible in order to show what God is like, is perfectly justified.

I am not using it as evidence of God's existance.

We have a soul, created in the image of God.

You're making assertions again. Where's the evidence?

Again, the post was one of theology.

To have one animal preying on another animal, or infecting another animal, or implanting its offspring, does not show that God is not beneficent.

Unless one knows the meaning of the word "beneficent".

beneficent adj. 1. Characterized by or performing acts of kindness or charity. 2. Producing benefit; beneficial.

The idea here is that God is beneficent. I don't believe anywhere does the Bible state anything about God being "omnibonevolent". Infact, the Bible does not even contain the word "beneficent".

If you want to create your own god in your image, and then strike him down, be my guest.
