But that is my point exactly. You recognize no authority higher than
yourself, as to the discernment of teaching.

I did not. The Pope is only elected by the College of Cardinals, and I
am not part of that. And they, in turn, are not elected by anyone,
they are raised to the Cardinalate by Popes. The Catholic laity are
not consulted, at all.

That's not really true, you know? While they may not recognize the
Papacy as an authority, they nonetheless pay attention when he says
something.
