Errol9, Interesting observation. I recall that when the competition between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon was keen, one of the projected fears of Kennedy was that, as a Catholic, he would be beholding to the Pope and the Church in times of national security. The discussion of Joseph Lieberman as running mate for Al Gore back when carried some fears that Lieberman, as a Jew, would be susceptible to the pulls and pushes of Israel during American crises. The discussion was a lot more restrained than with Kennedy's but the same reservations were expressed. Is there feeling in England about a Baha'i in high governmental places compromising his or her loyalities to the government and religion? Government workers in America have to swear or affirm to protect the American Constitution against foreign or domestic enemies. I should think that mixing our government work with our religion would be highly problematic. Would that be so in the UK? I remember that the Guardian in a couple of cases asked the Baha'i in high political/government office to resign from the Faith. Is that true with the House of Justice? --Cal
