In view of the fact that another sans-Guardian Hand of the
Cause has recently died, leaving only one heterodox Hand
of the Cause, the sans-Guardian believers need to be
conscious of the fact that they now have in their camp only
one remaining source of answers for a multitude of vital
questions related to critical events which occurred amongst
Baha'is and Baha'i leaders after the passing of the first of
our Guardians in 1957, namely the last remaining sans-Guardian
Hand of the Cause.
If the health of that Hand permits, there are questions which
need to be asked about these vital matters:
1. Why was the Chicago Manifesto, a document prepared by the
American Hands of the Cause shortly after Shoghi Effendi's
passing suppressed by the Hands of the Cause in Haifa?
2. If 'faithful' Hands of the Cause could produce a significant
document which 'needed' to be suppressed, could Hands of the Cause
make other critical 'mistakes'?
3. In view of the fact that the Will and Testament of 'Abdu'l-Baha'
is sacred and immutable inspired Baha'i Holy Text, the Holy Words
of which Document only a Holy Manifestation of God possesses
Authority to abrogate, why did the Persian Hands of the Cause,
in their secret conclave during the night of Nov. 19th, 1957
in the Great Mansion in Bahji, take the decision to declare the
Will and Testament of the Master to be Badah (an Islamic term
meaning that God has changed His Mind)?
4. In vies of the fact that The American Hands of the Cause
stated in the Chicago Manifesto:
"The designation of the Hands as Chief Stewards provides
a body of trustees capable of serving as custodians but not as
successor to the Guardianship.", why did other Hands in Haifa
state the opposite?:
"The Custodians shall be deemed to succeed the Guardian of the
Baha'i Faith".
5. Considering that the group of nine Hands formed in Haifa
after the passing of Shoghi Effendi claimed to be fulfilling the
exact role of the group of nine Hands delineated by the Master in His
Will and Testament, why were they appointed instead of elected as
required by the Master's Instructions?
6. The Chicago Manifesto states:
"The Guardianship continues in terms of Shoghi Effendi's
peerless accomplishments even though the person of the Guardian
has been called to a higher world."
Is not the document spoken of as "Shoghi Effendi's spiritual
testament", namely The Dispensation of Baha'u'llah, one of the
most remarkable of Shoghi Effendi's "peerless accomplishments",
which document's main theme is the continuing Guardianship of
the Baha'i Faith and the Administration of the New World Order,
in which manuscript he speaks of "...future Guardians..." and
"...their conduct and example..."?
7. Was not the establishing of the embryonic Universal House
of Justice also one of the first Guardian's remarkable
accomplishments, by means of which Institution he also provided
for the continuation of the Guardianship of the Baha'i faith
with a living Guardian on Earth?
8. Should you not rejoice that the sacred Institution of
the Hands of the Baha'i Faith established by the Holy Master,
the Center of the Covenant of our Lord will continue to flourish
after your passing in consideration of the fact that another Hand
of the Baha'i Faith has already been appointed by the third
Guardian of the Baha'i faith? We who are Orthodox Baha'is certainly
rejoice in that fact even as we relish the abundant spiritual
nutrition perennially and faithfully provided us by that same Hand
of the Baha'i Faith appointed by the third Guardian.
