>CEDAW=100% Pro-Abortion-on-Demand!!!!! Oh really. Odd that such strongly Catholic countries as Ireland, Italy and most of South America have signed up and ratified the agreement. Have you actually read any CEDAW documents? Here's an example: http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/csw/healthr.htm#conclusions The agreement encourages countries to start adopting policies that reduce gender discrimination. Yes, CEDAW would like to see abortion decriminalised and made available as part of a state's medical services. But its aim - which it does not lose sight of - is to reduce gender discrimination, and it's not about to insist on abortion when other measures could be encouraged instead. For example If a country starts to make contraceptives more readily available to women and men, then that haelps meet the aim, and may well reduce the demand for abortion. The agreement is definitely not a simple - sign-this-and-you-have-to-be-100%-Pro-Abortion-on-Demand - as Darrick makes out. ka kite Steve
