I think it might be more productive to examine the differing perceptions of the thing attacked. My guess is that Jerry sees the Baha'i Faith as a monolithic entity - in which case an attack on one part of it can easily be perceived as an attack on the whole. I don't think of the Baha'i Faith in that way. I see it as an organic entity. If one part of it applies the revelation in a way appropriate to its environment, it experiences growth and development. If not, it doesn't. A failure in one area isn't a reflection on the whole and an attack on one part isn't an attack on the whole either.
