I looked up something you 'just said' and it looks quite different to me Kate. From: Kate Orman ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Subject: Re: Frequent false reports: where's the evidence? [...] Since there's no reason to assume that women are habitual liars, there's no reason for doctors, police, lawyers, judges, juries, or the media to behave as though they are. There's no basis for the untoward suspicion that has helped so many rapists continue their careers. Nor is there a good reason for large efforts to convince folks that rape victims can't be trusted. (Although I must thank you for all the "rape education" postings, which have helpfully provided plenty of evidence that liars don't get off scot free!) Seems to me your stance is diametrically opposed to the very idea of not just believing the woman. And I note that you cannot tell the difference between an accuser and a "rape victim", that is, you just believe the woman yourself. It seems that you oppose the very concept of justice Kate. And I disagree with both of you, any idiot who thinks that they can use statistics to evaluate any individal case is so monumentally ignorant as to defy belief. Regardless of the stats, every case needs to be investigated individually and actions taken only on the result of the investigation. You say that there us "There's no basis for the untoward suspicion." Since all that's at stake is a man's future and freedom, I can see why you have no concerns. But you have it exactly backwards. There is no reason to belive her. As I said above, the police should neither believe nor disbelieve a rape accusation, they should investigate and proceed only on the results of the investigation. They may arrest the man, they may arrest the woman. But they should *never* just believe the woman. Rich > Yours, > - Kate Orman
