Personally, I think the only Americans outside
NYC and perhaps the next 5 largest cities that
had a real fear for their own personal safety
because of the September 11, 2001 attacks,
were outright cowardly. Sleepy drivers will kill
more Americans this year than terrorists have
in the past 50. Anxiety was widespread, as it
should have been, but cowardice causes terse,
reactionary responses (to wit: Congress giving
GWB carte blanche on Iraq, USAPATRIOT, et al).
