Re: A dream I had last night

I'm walking along the sidewalk near my house.
There's a tank on the sidewalk parallel to the street.
It turns it's turret toward me, keeping me in it's sights

Then I pass another which does the same.
Two steel dinosaurs with artillery.

It was just a dream, the Soviet Union exists no more.

In real life tanks are very large and terrifying.

Like you've actually had some experience.

Many brave men have lost control of their bodily
functions at the sight of rapidly approaching tanks.

Maybe I was wrong. Personal experience?

I segue to the Middle East.
A cross-armed hawkish manager of some kind stands before
three large tanks parked neatly in a row.

Hussein's gone too.

He's yammering about American might and ingenuity as the
tanks extract oil.
(Physical laws don't apply in dreams, but symbolism does.)

Yeah, I bet America gave Hussein the whim whams.

They remind me of giant, frightening ticks pressed against the earth, sucking hydrocarbon blood.
Instead of sand, they're parked on neatly manicured grass,
each one set on the short grass of a golf course hole.
The hawk yammers on.
Suddenly I lose my temper and shout,
"I don't care HOW powerful we are, they're gonna wipe us OUT!"

Never had a drean where I was an Iraqi. Must be awful.

I don't know what the chances of that are, but we have enraged
the entire Muslim world and there are a LOT of Arabs in
the Middle East.
Remember Custer before you laugh.

I know Custer was outgunned. Little known fact. The seventh cavalry were issued single shot rolling block rifles. The indians were equipped with Winchester seven shot lever action repeaters. Puts things in a whole new light, doesn't it?

And watch as our soldiers are picked off one, two, seventeen
at a time.

They volunteered. Who are you to criticize their choice. You anti-choice or sompin.

American might allowed US to invade Iraq in cake walk fashion.
American arrogance has turned the entire Muslim world against us.

Oh? You wouldn't happen to know how many broke diplomatic relations with us, do you?

BTW, the reason why Custer's men were slaughtered was because
he ordered them to box up all their sabers so they wouldn't
rattle as they "snuck in."

Like sabers would have helped them against Winchester rifles. I was wrong. You've had no personal combat experience or you'd know how ignorant you sound right now.

Six shots from each Colt Percussion Revolver, then they were defenseless. If they had had their sabers they might have prevailed.
The Sioux Nation were actually watching them as they tried
to sneak into the Little Big Horn.

Yeah, you're an idiot. A pistol has an effective range of about 50 yds. A winchester with a range of 300 has them just slightly outranged. And again with the sabers? A saber has an effective rabge of four or so feet depending on the lenght of the arm. You really are massively ignorant. The folks at the civil war interest group will get a good laugh out of this. Excuse me while I print this out.

I'm back.

Sounds very much like Iraq.
Little or no resistance as "We" rode in, but now the small arms
are out and guerilla war is in full swing.

Oh, our troops boxed up their sabers. Gee, I was never issued one. Maybe that's why we lost in Vietnam also, huh? But wait a minute, the Japanese had sabers and they got beat awfull bad. Banzai attacks by saber weilding officers got wiped out to a man. Maybe you just might possibly be wrong about those fearsome sabers, ya think?

How do you defeat a Super Power?

Arm your team with sabers? Now there I think they would be effective, but isn't there some silly rules about weapons?

--Let them invade you first...

Remember my old rantings about how Iraq would become
another Vietnam-like quagmire?
Was I right?

No. You're so massively ignorant you can't tell the difference between a war and minor skirmishing.

One more question:
Does anyone believe the the Iraqi resistance is simply
the work of "terrorists?"

Yes. Hussein was a terrorists and so are the people fighting American troops. Why do you think its all in the Hussein triangle dumpling?
