Second incomes are very important in this country. As you alluded to, many
times the husband is the primary wage earner, and he pays the regular bills.
The wife's Wal-Mart income makes big ticket purchases possible. I will
hazard a guess that Wal-Mart probably pays for more cars than any employer
in this country. I may be wrong, but I bet I'm close.
