Collier's Theory: 
(1) If your livelihood or social standing depends on believing that Jews
are people just like us, who really have the same cultural goals as we do,
then you will believe that, even if you are inundated with evidence to the
contrary.

(2) If your culture is being destroyed by Jews, so that the dominant
cultural blocks that threaten them with assimilation are decimated, you
will refuse to believe (a) that your culture is being destroyed, or (b)
that its decline is a result of anything but impersonal forces.
