Re: Fall of Rome, fall of liberal democracy?

<< I always want to ask people, But what concrete proof do you have that there
is no conspiracy going on? It's one of those questions, like the existence
of deities, for which there will not be an answer. We believe what we want
to, because without meeting every person on earth and investigating them, we
have no idea if there's a conspiracy afoot.
>>

Well it's all up to an individual what they want to beleive. I for one never
support conspiracy theories unless there is evidence linking such a fact.
When somebody uses conspiracy, I automatically assume that they have no clue,
so they invent reasons for events to satisify themselves or to reenforce their
objections. In most cases, it's true.

But this is the sign of the times. We have become so paranoid of each other
and so distrusting, that we resort to conspiracy as a defense mechanism because
we live in a "I'll get you before you get me" world. Trust in America is
passe. A hand shake is no longer a gesture of a mans word. It no longer has
significance.

<< 3. If all everyone wants is peace, why are they trying to enforce it by war?
(If one dog wins, the other will lie in wait for him.) >>

Because peace is only achieved through war. It's just one of those ugly facts
we have to live with in human life. Very few opposing parties have ever gained
peace through words or treaties. And to the chagrin of many, it has been going
on thousands of years and will go on many more. If one dog wins, it's only
because the other dog is defeated.
