Interesting also, the same usual suspects were who were so closely
involved in supporting and maintaining Saddam's brutal reign hold some
of the top jobs in the current US administration. Just ask any Kurd
why they seem so suspicious of the US. The gasses Saddam unleashed on
them which killed and maimed thousands of civilians were procured from
the US in a deal brokered between Iraq and America by none other than
Donald Rumsfeld. At the time Kurds were being gassed and killed, we on
this side of the Atlantic didn't hear about it, because if media
outlets were to practice respectable journalism, they would have
quickly uncovered US complicity in this act.
Rumsfeld, Powell and Bush could be considered war criminals if we
applied the same rule of law we did to the Nazi's or Milosovic. The
hypocrisy is neverending. Is it any surprise people the world are
jealous and angry at the US. Well, duh.
The electorate needs to start taking responsibility for the acts of
the nation and should demand full dislosure of what happened. After
all, innocents the world over are having their blood shed in the name
of the good old red, white and blue, and that's not what the USA is
supposed to stand for is it?
Sadly, in some ways, the US has become that which it sought to free
its people from in its infancy: an arrogant power-hungry military
empire.
