So he believed then. The situation 10 years later is in fact.... 10 years different. In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Bryan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
So is George W. Bush's dad an idiot but honest too? What do you think of George Bush Sr.? He had quite a bit to say just a few years ago on what a bad idea it would have been to go after Saddam Hussein, and what mess we'd get ourselves into after trying. Seems he was dead nuts on.You are taking facts out of context.
Chris
G Bush Sr., was in Iraq under a UN mandate.... to liberate Kuwait. Bush Sr. was correct then, to not remove Sadam, and extend the war beyond that which was established and authorized by the UN. Personally, I wish he had done that, but it does not change the argument that President Bush Sr. did the right thing then. It was not his charter, nor was America threatened by terrorism directly connected to Iraq.
How am I taking facts out of context? Bush Sr. said it would be a mistake to take out Saddam Hussein. He wasn't talking about not having had a U.N. mandate. He said it would destabilize the region.
Oh did you hear about how he's giving Ted Kennedy his public service award next month? It was announced the same week Ted Kennedy accused the Bush administration of telling lies to get us to go to war with Iraq. He gutted the Bush administration on numerous issues. And this means what... that Bush Sr. thinks his son is a prat and is about to disown him? I imagine when Tom Daschle visits the Whitehouse, the President shakes his hands too. Are you expecting the President to spit on Chirac the next time they see him? Okay, so Bush Sr. happens to have some history with a Senator that does not like or agree with his son... big deal.
Clearly you resort to Liberal rhetoric instead of common sense and rational thought.
Clearly George Bush Sr. is trying to send Jr. a message without making a huge public stink about it.
What is this? What "anti-Bush bias"? The fact that his father knows Ted Kennedey and wishes to honor him for other reasons? Neither Bush Sr., Ted Kenedey, or the Liberal conglomerate has the facts about anything.... so you manufacture intrigue and call it fact. You have no idea what is in Bush Sr.'s heart, or what he might have discussed with his son. Spare yourself the effort... you do not need to find me evidence of anti-Bush sentiment. I am well aware of Ted Kennedy, most Liberals, and the crap that floats in this newsgroup. I remain convinced that anti-Bush and hatred exists.... if only there was something tangible behind it.... alas, but silly me.... how intelligent could one be to rationalize hatred against another.
Now this President Bush believes that the dynamics of terrorism as a direct threat against the US has changed, and does include Iraq as a key component. I do not wish to get back into another hypothetical argument about what he knew, and if he lied, as none of anything I have ever heard in any of the mainstream media supports this. I will have to trust that you have other insight that leads you to that conclusion (beyond simple anti-Bush bias).
I have a factually based anti-Bush bias. And his father's opinions on the subject I happen to have agreed with before George W. Bush was even on the national political scene.
