I do not know if TF is the same guy who appeared on the Newshour as a regular reporter working for the New York Times. I am going to assume (correct or incorrect) that he is. And this gives me a nice opportunity to critique the News Media coverage of events. The TF that appeared on the Newshour (and I am assuming that TF is Jewish). Gave a nice rundown report on Iraq, but when he gave his report on Israel and the conditions there, he was a failure as a newsreporter. I believe his failing is because TF is Jewish and so biased as to not be able to give a objective report on Israel. FAILURE of News Journalism during Vietnam: The failure here is easy to spot. The govt. went into Vietnam as a "Domino Falling theory". The News Media, unfortunately, adopted the Domino theory also for both the govt and private citizenry saw the Korean War. That was the failure because the News Media from 1960 to 1975 preached alongside the government itself that Vietnam was a Domino. When instead, if the News Media had done their job, had been perfect journalists and professional people at work in news media would have diverged from the government propaganda of Domino Effect and instead kept harping from about 1962 onwards that Vietnam was a "Revolution for Independence just like the USA in 1776". The News and Press and Media outlets failed the world public from 1960 to 1975 concerning Vietnam. Likewise the News media is failing the world as far as Israel Palestine is concerned. It is a known fact that much of the news media in the USA is owned and controlled by Jewish community. So the question is. How many times in print in the New York Times or any other news outlet do the American people hear the words that "Israel and the Jews are stealing the land of the WestBank and Gaza" I bet only on the Internet, in these posts to soc.history and talk.politics.theory are there sentences saying that "Israel and the Jews are stealing land." So, what good does it do for TF of the New York Times to even saying anything about Israel when he can never unblindfold himself and have the courage to say the truth-- Israel is a systematic stealer of land from 1948 onwards. The News has an obligation to report the facts. The News Media has 2 obligations to the public. (1) report the facts (2) interpret the facts as per past history Most news media is okay on (1) Most news media fail on (2). They failed in Vietnam. They failed with Iraq and the removal of SH. They failed miserably on the Israel Palestine Conflict. With Iraq and (2) the news media should have dumped Bush's reasons of weapons of mass destruction and substituted the real gravity pull of Iraq in a world of diminishing oil supplies the USA wants the worlds 2nd largest oil reserves. We will never get out of Iraq until they have no more oil. Most news reports are worthless to read because they are allied with the government and thus they are a mere propaganda pandering for the government itself. If a news reporter or agency cannot do (2) then they should stick to (1) solely. The News could have brought an end to the Vietnam War way back in the 1960s if they had done a good job of (2) and that means "teaching the American people some past history like the 1776 Revolution" instead, the newsmedia was nothing more than another propaganda board for the government.
