The most critical need we have is to restore to America the representative democracy our founders intended us to have. They did not want political parties here, yet they emerged and have not been removed from our electoral processes. This puts a layer -- a filter -- between the people and their elected representatives which should not exist. We do not nominate political parties. We do not vote on political parties. We do not elect political parties. Yet everything of a political nature is done through and in the name of one party or another. This is a grievous wrong and is slowly but surely destroying representative government in America. We, the people, can and must take back our electoral and governance processes. Stanley F. Nelson Dallas.
