God forbid we bring more people into the process. The non-voters are not
engaged in the issues, they're busy with the distractions of the puerile,
the lowbrow, the short attention-spanned, the marginally criminal, the
lethargic, and the plain weird. There's tens of millions of votes out there
for sure....but God, what an *effort* it would take to get them to the
polls, let ALONE convince them to put two cogent thoughts together on any
issue before putting poker to chad. It would be more rewarding to try to get
feral cats to perform synchronized water ballet....and probably a lot
easier, too.

What if all the people who can't be bothered to vote now, were suddenly
rallied around a charismatic socialist who said, "hey all you lazy slobs who
can't be bothered to vote...there are so many of you that if you get off
your big dead asses and vote for ME I will punish the rich beyond anything
ever *conceived* and redistribute all their wealth to the working poor and
even the non-working poor. And some big fat crumbs for the middle class as
well. The plan is confiscatory taxes and closing all the tax loopholes for
the rich and even the semi-rich, which, by the way, starts at $75,000 for a
family of four."

Now if all those people DID register and this head case got elected
president and a wave of enthusiasm wound up turning congress over these
socialists, in my humble opinion, it would destroy America as surely as a
rain of atomic bombs.

So I NEVER encourage anyone to vote unless I know for sure they're at least
leaning strongly conservative.

The same general logic would be useful when considering whether to tell your
new neighbor that Bob's Guns and Ammo is having a 45% off sale on assault
rifles and gunpowder. The point is that you don't want to find out AFTER you
mention the good news of the sale that he happens to be a paranoid meth
freak with a short fuse and LOVE and HATE tattooed on his knuckles.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only
exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the
public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the
candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the
result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policies, always
followed by a dictatorship.
