This is a shorter essay than his 1924 work of the same name and is written during the early days of the French Popular Front. Some writers regard this work, only published in German in 1931 and still only partially translated into English, as the high point of Hegel's philosophy, in which the recognition of individuals as free agents is most closely identified with the formation of modern community.
