Idaho-Based Co. Halts Iraq Project BOISE, Idaho - A Boise-based engineering and construction company has suspended work on power line towers being built in northern Iraq because two engineers for a subcontractor were killed and two others wounded in a weekend attack. Washington Group International will re-evaluate security before resuming work on the project, said spokesman Jack Herrmann. The engineers, employed by Omu Electric Co. of Seoul, South Korea, were ambushed Sunday near Samarra. U.S. officials said it was part of a campaign to undermine international support for the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq. Construction of the transmission towers is part of a $110 million contract Washington Group won from the U.S. government to rebuild Iraq's power infrastructure. About three dozen Washington Group employees working on that and other projects under the contract remain in Iraq, Herrmann said. + "The power of accurate observation is called cynicism by those who have not got it." - G.
