It's a breathtaking expansion of anti-trust to say that you've got to break up big media because 11 corporations control 90% of the market. I would bet you that in *every* major industry the top 11 corporations control 90% or more of the market. Cars? Clearly it's fewer than 11 corporations--Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan; between the five they probably control 95% of the market. Airlines? Clearly the top 11 airlines dominate the industry. Dean's pandering to the base on this one. The extreme left is the only group in America that cares about media consolidation, and for obvious reasons. Extreme views do tend to get squelched in giant corporations, hence less leftist extremism in newspapers and other media. Less right wing extremism as well BD "Members and front organizations must continually embarrass, discredit and degrade our critics. When obstructionists become too irritating, label them as fascist, or Nazi or anti-Semitic .... The association will, after enough repetition, become "fact" in the public mind." --Communist Party, Moscow Central Committee 1943
