I love Chomsky but he tends to downplay the importance of the economy in the machiavellian mind and overplays the fear factor. For me Iraq was a stone wall case of a war waged to rescue a struggling economy and stock market but Chomsky chose to lead on the psychological impact and the congressional elections as a reason.
