This was a terrible loss of face for the Local Tribal Chiefs who had given
permission for the attacks and even evacuated the area, including a
Kindergarten before the attack.
The bodies of the Fedayeen Saddam were spirited away to Tikrit and the other
places they came from. It was a miracle that only 8 locals got hit at an
intersection where normally hundreds of people would be milling about at
midday when it happened, but not surprising considering that the local
population had been warned to get out of the way.
