It should be very obvious to anyone who looks beyond the published reasons
for the USA's interest in "Middle East security and democracy", that the
real reason is to clear a protective ring around Israel, free of any leader
with the inclination or means to launch a nuclear attack on Israel, or
defend their country from an attack by Israel.  More than that, Bush is
hell-bent on ensuring that there is not even a chance of a stalemate.  He is
ensuring that the only nuclear power in the Middle East is Israel and no
other nearby state has even a shred of deterrent.  Israel will remain a law
unto itself and the imbalance of power will continue in it's favour, at
least until it has finished exterminating the Palestinians.  Both America
and Israel have the power and have shown that they are quite prepared to use
it to their own ends.  They are without doubt the greatest threats to world
peace in the modern world.
