Wife of Abu Shanab: We will celebrate Eid despite wounds

Wife of Abu Shanab: We will celebrate Eid despite wounds
Nov 27, 2003, 11:11

Gaza - Wife of Ismail Abu Shanab, one of the Hamas Movement leaders
assassinated on 21st August 2003 at the hands of Zionist occupation forces,
has said that the entire family missed him but would still celebrate Eid
despite wounds.

She said that her kids experienced hard times during the holy month of
Ramadan due to the absence of their beloved father.

Um Hasan said that her husband's absence was particularly felt by her two
youngest daughters Misk, 2, and Hiba, 4, in addition to their son Mohammed,
14, who was born while his father was in jail. Mohammed was very happy when
his father was released but did not enjoy his company for long for he was
assassinated only a few years later, she explained.

The patient widow, who has three sons and three daughters, said that she
bought new clothes for her offspring as if their father was among them.

Um Hasan, whose elder son Hasan is studying engineering in the USA, said
that the Palestinian people had been suffering profound wounds for over a
half century but continued to celebrate feasts despite those grievances.

She hoped that the next Eid would harbinger the end of Zionist occupation
when Arabs and Muslims realize their duties towards the Palestinian people.
