I have no idea, but it was during `Umar bn al-Khattab's caliphate that
the Arabs launched their unprovoked colonialist aggressive
expansionist wars against all the surrounding states, including eastern
Roman (Byzantine) Syria. The imperialistic aggressive expansionism of
the Arabs under early Islam would put Cecil Rhodes to shame -- all
that Cecil Rhodes ever managed to do in the way of launching
expansionist imperialist aggressive attacks was merely the ill-fated
Jameson Raid, while the Arabs carved off large chunks of the Byzantine
Empire and completely destroyed the ancient Persian Empire by their
unprovoked imperialist aggressive expansionist wars of looting,
plunder, and conquest.

Of course, Jerusalem wasn't even the capital of Filastin under the Arab
caliphs -- the capital of the province was first at Lod, then at Ramla.
