I started using Apple in 1981 and I'm still using it.
I did run my FidoNet BBS off 286/386 [SX & DX)'s
but good old PC-DOS 3.2 was really stable.
Of course, since "MS/PC-DOS" was/were a
ripoff of CP/M bought from Seattle Computer,
it should have been stable.
And, of course, since the Gatesinians licensed
the "look and feel" of the Macintosh (for 3.0), . . .
[I had to learn DOS when I first got back to the states around '86 and one of
the engineers with whom I worked was teaching me. I kept using commands that
he /knew/ wouldn't work and they kept working. Ya know, like "ERA" instead of
"DEL".]
[I had been using a "GoldCard" (Z-80) on
my Apple ][+ and running WordStar 3.0.]
