Big deal. Almost everything a person does qualifies as risking one's
life. You risk your life every time you drive, ride a train, cross the
street, eat unhealthy food, or use something made out of glass. The
probability of any one of these acts leading to one's own death is very low.
The fact that Bush braved this danger proves that he valued the expected
political payoff more than he valued the safety and convenience of staying
in the White House.
