My lord... i see a lot of irrational, empty rhetoric. This is the philosophy newsgroup. Philosophy is a field that prides itself on well thought arguments. The original question: Are Islam and Democracy Incompatible? The simple answer is No, of course not. The teachings of the prophet Muhammed and "rule by the people" are fundementally COMPATIBLE. the problem is the current version of each system. The traditions of the arab world dating from long before Islam... and the traditions of the "democratic nations" have created a problem. I could expand on this, but I am really hoping that everyone can just get back on track. Fundamental Compatibility is a completely different issue than how a particular type of democracy and a particular manifestation of Islam might interact with each other. So... let's try this again. Taking either direction, but not confusing them. Be distinct, clear, accurate... it helps!
