Absolutely. > > Part of the probelm is that you seem to think "sucks" means "the > threats against her family were inexcusable". Yes. You see in my world it is inexcusable for society to allow teenagers to feel so bad they kill themselves by jumping from tower blocks. It is inexcusable to murder elderly ladies for a few pence. It is inexcusable to stab a teenage shop worker for a mobile phone. It is inexcusable for a mother to get so drunk and drugged she allows her toddler son to play in the middle of a room of dirty needles. A piece of poxy email with a pointless threat at someones family merely sucks in comparison. It is not inexcusable because I know of things that truely ARE. I know you said "that > sucks" this was never an issue. I just don't think sucks means what > you think it means. It means its a bitch. It means its a nuisance. It means its a bad inconvenience. It isnt inexcusable because in the overall scheme of things it is about 1% on the scale of importance. It is a piece of shitty email. > > If someone said it to you in person I > > > doubt you would take it so well. It doesnt - if at some point I said it did I must have been tired or trying to placate you - god knows why - it sucks. Yup look up sucks in the dictionary and > it will say "threats against a family are inexcusable" Or perhaps not. Nope - it will say "what whores do for £2." Or perhaps not either, but whores DO suck for £2. > > > No it isn't the key. How often something happens has nothing to do > > > with the morality of the event. All you can do is doubt because you wouldnt know one way or another. In that hypothetical situation death was unavoidable. It > often happens like that in the real world. Doesnt stop it traumatising someone - just because it was unavoidable. Someone else decides that > somebody must die and all you can do is make sure it isn't you or your > family. If you took a stick and started poking a bear cub do you > think the momma bear would regret killing you afterward? No - bears dont have a concience - thats what makes us human. And if we are sane, it means it is working. So you could kill someone and logically you would say all what you have said - a textbook case of never having been there. But your mind will not work like that. Go after a > sane person's kid with a knife and if they have a gun in their hands > there is only one action they can take. They will do what they have > to do. Sure they will - and suffer flashbacks as a result. Due to trauma. > > I would hate to be the British police officer who arives on the scene > after the family is dead because there was no gun in the house and all > I could say was "Well thankfuly this rarely happens!" I wouldnt say that. I would say Im sorry.
