Within the scope of human history, a mere two hundred fifteen
years ago is but a minor blip.   a nascent democracy is fragile
enough and radical enough, the future history books my yet speak
of your shorted live and doomed attempt at democracy.

Democracy has not been the normal state of human affairs, and it
is not the norm today.
