Even BB may not be sufficient.  I had two Rotweilers attacking my geese.
One took both barrels and the vet found 30 odd pellets in the head and
forepart of the body.  The dog rolled over at the first shot and got up
immediately to run past me collecting the second barrel on the way.  It was
still vary much alive when seen by the vet after he was called by the
Council dog ranger.  Apparently it could have survived!  It will be SG next
time if there is a next time.  Perhaps I will haul out the .243!
