Then it would be their problem, not mine.  Your original claim was that 
they could always trace the gun.....not so, mon ami.  If they have the gun, 
they can find who it was originally sold to and start up the chain until 
they get the break of someone not remembering who bought it, who stole it 
or where they lost it. None of those are crimes.

Oh, they were recorded to someone once.  That does not mean that they are 
recorded to anyone now.
