I don't have a "Cartridges of the World" handy, but you might want to check on the actual bullet weight of 6.5x50(?) Carcano ball ammo. I suspect that if you used a bullet that heavy, the .243 would slow WAY down. I don't know what the head diameter of the 6.5 Carcano is, so I'd have trouble finding a comparable COMMON sporting cartridge.
