Says who, Jumbles? You? How are your South African White Supremacist turdsucking buddies, Jumbles? I keep expecting to contract some horrible disease besides race hatred. Keep us posted. Laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh. ________________ If NRA propaganda simply resulted in several million Americans of all ages being persuaded to decimate flocks, herds, communities, bedchambers, and barrooms in order to provide the arms and ammo industry's executives with the kind of cigars and richly paneled boardrooms to which they have become accustomed, one could wave that aside as being of no more perverse an influence than, say, the auto industry has had on the same suckers. But the fact is that the impact of NRA propaganda is much more insidious; it is much more difficult for a people to fight off or shrug off, because it stems from obsolete truths—truths that are still respected as a part of history but that, if literally and contemporaneously applied, as it is quite tempting to do in our lazy or sentimental moments, can do real mischief to our logic and our language. The most dangerous example of this would be the NRA's standard line on the need for, and its role in providing, the "citizen soldier." It was the line to which the NRA clung so desperately to keep from sinking during its early, perilous existence. Sherill, Robert.
