Actually, ice dries the smoke and dry smoke is bad for your lungs as well.
Use a bong with tap-hot water to hydrate the smoke, which will soothe your
lungs.

Actually, pot can lead to dependence.  As can running.  And many other things.

But pot is not physically addictive, unlike coffee, tea, cola, tobacco,
alcohol, etc.
