That's interesting -- I was assuming it was common in high tech, because 
he keeps having to do it.  He doesn't work for companies with a lot of 
gov't contracts, since he prefers to avoid companies with a lot of 
defense contracts.  He's always had to take a pre-employment physical, 
and part of that physical is a drug test -- are you sure they haven't 
been sneaking one in on you?  <g>  (For all I know, he may only know 
because his company chooses to inform him -- is informing someone 
required by federal law?)  Might the fact that he works in the fab make 
a difference?
