Acknowledging that bugs splat on one's windshield has nothing to do with diet, a typical urban vegan diet has a toll of more than dead bugs. There are also mammals, amphibians and birds. The bug splat comment is a transparent attempt to make it appear he is being humble and realistic about his impact when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. He obviously feels that he has risen to a higher plane of existence above the level of a person who would obtain food by hunting when he says "I have a lot of making up to do", and he feels that avoiding animal products is accomplishing this. Inherent in this self-serving conclusion is the typical vegan/AR fallacy, "I don't consume animal products, thefore animals don't suffer (or the fallback position, fewer animals suffer) to support my diet and lifestyle". > > > From the article: > > > ------------------------- > > > Am I responsible for the death of animals, even though I am a > vegetarian, > > > don't use leather or fur?
