Actually understanding the process helps a bit.  (Hint: It gets to all 
parts of the brain either way.)

They're the most advanced forms which are economical on a large scale. 
(Electrocution is still used but increasingly passe - not for welfare 
reasons mind you, it's labor-intensive.)  Oh, and you don't get mink 
shit all over you.
