Re: Call To Ban All Fishing In 1/3 Of World's Seas

Veal is not inhumane in and of itself, especially when grown outside of
the conditions misrepresented as the norm by ARAs. That's true of all
animal husbandry. Your ARA friends are showing you the worst examples,
all of which are punishable in western nations. FWIW, US veal is grown
with a healthful diet, plenty of room to move around, and the ability to
see other livestock (i.e., they're not isolated in tiny crates).

Crap.

Those aren't tiny crates. The animals have plenty of room and it looks like plenty of feed. They also have some interaction with other animals.

These are typical veal calf conditions according to the AR terrorists and propagandists:

From the article itself, we find that this is a picture (one of four in the article itself) of study conditions. Here's the link. You can find out what was being studied yourself:

Try to be a little less shady with sources next time.

How about a link to the full story? Hard to trace it back with a link to one image, especially when the directory listing is denied.

What's wrong with that? It's not a darkened, teeny-tiny wooden crate like AR terrorists and propagandists claim.

It might be the case that if there is a ban on fish, many people will
replace the fish flesh with the flesh of other animals....

Yes, this is what will happen. Rather than consuming fish, which has beneficial fats that help raise LDL and lower LDL, they'll turn to livestock like lamb, beef, pork, and poultry.

This is what may happen. Unless you have evidence to the contrary.

What happens when the price of fish rises or falls? People resort to consuming substitutes. What are the most common, natural substitutes for fish? Other meats. *Some* people *may* abstain from other meats, but most people will continue eating meat. Remove favored fish species, and they *will* consume more of their favored meats.

Bullshit. The fishing industry wants sustainability and profits. What
good is a profit today if there's no chance of one tomorrow? That's why
the fishing industry is working for sustainable practices.

Crap. Some fishermen what sustainability. Some what whatever they can get.

ALL fishermen want sustainability. Why would they be in and remain in an industry, making large investments in capital (boats, nets, etc.) and labor, if they faced *no* future in it?
