[Q] R W Emerson quote

I heard this recently and wanted to get an exact quote.

At least I am pretty sure that is who supposely said something to the
effect that we are each a sphere and can only touch each other at a
single point. But, since we can roll around, we can get to know each
other pretty well.

Anyone have an exact quote? Did Emerson say something like this?
