Sorry if I was implying that all pro-choice proponents are against capital punishment, but many are--the mainstream Democratic/liberal view upholds that capital punishment is a no-no and abortion is a greenlight. I think President Clinton, being a moderate, was an exception--he was for the death penalty, but not a lot of Dems agreed with him on this stance. Read any of Anna Quindlen's Last Words in the back pages of Newsweek and you'll see the classic East-Sider lefty arguments at their best (and worst)--sometimes in the same article, she defends death-row inmates' "rights" while upholding pro-abortion views. She is an excellent writer, but I marvel at this contradiction...
