my primary source of online radar maps (and satellite
photos, storm tracking, etc.) is:
http://www.intellicast.com/

however, sometimes the maps don't load, or they haven't
updated in two hours, or they've gone 404, or the pop-up
ads crash my browser (Netscape *or* IE).

local TV is useless - they only give the weather during
news broadcasts, maybe four or five times a day. at least
The Weather Channel repeats the local readings every ten
minutes, and gives regional information every hour or so.
however, i spend far more time around computers than around
TVs, so i generally keep trying either the site i refer to
above, or
http://www.wunderground.com

i also have WeatherBug installed on my computer - it gives
actual, real-time readings from a weather station nearby (in
my case, at the local high school), and sounds an alert if
the Weather Service issues any warnings of severe weather in
the area. the current temperature is 18 F/-8 C, humidity 61%,
dew point 7/-14, winds NW at 4 mph/6 kph with gusts up to
24/38, resulting in a wind chill of 14 F/-10 C; the barometric
pressure is 30.50/1032.67 and steady, and the sky is mostly
clear.
