I have lots >better luck with them that with local TV station radars; they are >on limited bandwidth links and bog down badly when anything of >interest is happening. >They're my primary resource, since I don't have cable at home or at >the office... my primary source of online radar maps (and satellite photos, storm tracking, etc.) is: http://www.intellicast.com/ however, sometimes the maps don't load, or they haven't updated in two hours, or they've gone 404, or the pop-up ads crash my browser (Netscape *or* IE). local TV is useless - they only give the weather during news broadcasts, maybe four or five times a day. at least The Weather Channel repeats the local readings every ten minutes, and gives regional information every hour or so. however, i spend far more time around computers than around TVs, so i generally keep trying either the site i refer to above, or http://www.wunderground.com i also have WeatherBug installed on my computer - it gives actual, real-time readings from a weather station nearby (in my case, at the local high school), and sounds an alert if the Weather Service issues any warnings of severe weather in the area. the current temperature is 18 F/-8 C, humidity 61%, dew point 7/-14, winds NW at 4 mph/6 kph with gusts up to 24/38, resulting in a wind chill of 14 F/-10 C; the barometric pressure is 30.50/1032.67 and steady, and the sky is mostly clear.
